public transit: public health threat
starting my new job downtown means taking public transit. i am all for the convenience and cost of riding public transit, but i have to admit i am completely disgusted when doing so. never have i encountered so many ill people in one confined, claustrophobic space. i know it doesn't do any good, but whenever someone sneezes or coughs i hold my breath. i imagine little germs floating everywhere and it grosses me out. i race off the bus to wash my hands.

parents: more annoying than their kids
let's face it: i am not a fan of kids, but at least they have an excuse for being annoying because they don't know any better. it's the parents that need help.
this morning at the grocery store i had to endure what felt like 10 minutes of a 30-something dad speaking in an obnoxiously fake british accent with his infant son (whose only vocal capabilities were loud shrieks). when he could have been paying for the groceries the clerk so kindly bagged for him, the dad played a little game with his son that the rest of us in the express line had to endure. the child would shriek in between his dad's overzealous attempt to speak with a british accent while asking his kid "is it in your NOSE? is it on your TOES?"
its the grocery store and there are people waiting. you can do your theater improv in your volvo on the ride home.
